The Cambridge Year 6 Chinese as a Second Language course is designed to strengthen learners’ Mandarin communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, helping them express ideas more clearly in both everyday and academic contexts.
Students will continue expanding their vocabulary and learn to communicate using longer sentences and structured paragraphs. Through dialogues, reading passages, listening activities, and guided writing tasks, learners will improve their ability to understand spoken and written Mandarin and communicate with greater confidence.
This course places strong emphasis on:
-
Listening to longer conversations, explanations, and short stories in Mandarin
-
Speaking confidently to describe experiences, present ideas, and participate in discussions
-
Reading a variety of short texts and identifying main ideas and important details
-
Writing structured sentences and short paragraphs using appropriate vocabulary and basic grammar
Lessons include dialogue practice, reading comprehension activities, vocabulary development exercises, interactive discussions, and writing tasks to support continuous language improvement.
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand a wider range of spoken Mandarin, read short texts with stronger comprehension, write structured sentences and paragraphs, and communicate ideas clearly and confidently in everyday situations.
