Year 5 – Mathematics

The Cambridge Year 5 Mathematics course is designed to strengthen learners’ mathematical understanding while developing problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical thinking skills.

Students will build on their knowledge of numbers, operations, geometry, measurement, and data handling. Through guided practice and problem-solving activities, learners will develop confidence in applying mathematical concepts to both everyday situations and more complex mathematical problems.

This course places strong emphasis on:

• Working with larger numbers and understanding place value

• Solving multi-step problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

• Understanding fractions, decimals, and basic percentages

• Exploring geometry concepts such as angles, shapes, and symmetry

• Interpreting and presenting data using tables, charts, and graphs

Lessons include step-by-step explanations, worked examples, interactive exercises, and practical problem-solving tasks to support deeper mathematical understanding.

By the end of the course, students will be able to perform calculations accurately, solve more complex mathematical problems, interpret data effectively, and apply mathematical reasoning with greater confidence.
