Year 3 – English as a Second Language

The Cambridge Year 3 English as a Second Language course is designed to further develop learners’ communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through structured and engaging learning activities.

Students will expand their vocabulary and begin to use longer sentences to express ideas in everyday situations. Through stories, conversations, guided reading, and writing activities, learners will improve their ability to understand spoken and written English while building confidence in communication.

This course places strong emphasis on:

• Listening to longer instructions, conversations, and short stories

• Speaking using complete sentences to describe experiences and share ideas

• Reading short passages and understanding key information

• Writing simple paragraphs using familiar vocabulary and sentence structures

Lessons include storytelling, role-play activities, reading exercises, vocabulary practice, and interactive tasks that help learners develop stronger language skills in a supportive environment.

By the end of the course, students will be able to understand a wider range of spoken English, read short texts with comprehension, express ideas in simple written paragraphs, and communicate with greater confidence in everyday situations.
