The Cambridge Year 3 Chinese as a Second Language course is designed to further develop learners’ Mandarin communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through structured and engaging learning activities.
Students will expand their vocabulary and begin using longer sentences to communicate about familiar topics such as family, school life, hobbies, and daily routines. Through dialogues, stories, reading passages, and guided writing activities, learners will strengthen their understanding of Mandarin and build greater confidence in using the language.
This course places strong emphasis on:
-
Listening to short conversations, instructions, and simple stories in Mandarin
-
Speaking using complete sentences to describe experiences and share ideas
-
Reading short passages and recognising a wider range of Chinese characters
-
Writing simple sentences and short paragraphs using familiar vocabulary
Lessons include dialogue practice, reading exercises, vocabulary building activities, interactive tasks, and quizzes to support language development in an engaging way.
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand longer spoken Mandarin, read short texts with comprehension, write simple sentences and short paragraphs, and communicate ideas more confidently in everyday situations.
