About This Course

The Cambridge Year 2 Chinese as a Second Language course is designed to help learners further develop their basic Mandarin communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through engaging and interactive activities.

Students will expand their vocabulary and begin using simple sentences in everyday situations such as introducing themselves, talking about family, school, and daily routines. Through dialogues, stories, songs, and guided reading activities, learners will build confidence in understanding and using Mandarin in familiar contexts.

This course places strong emphasis on:

  • Listening to simple conversations, instructions, and short stories in Mandarin

  • Speaking using basic sentences and everyday expressions

  • Recognising more Chinese characters and reading short sentences

  • Writing simple characters, words, and short sentences

Lessons include dialogue practice, visual learning, interactive activities, vocabulary exercises, and quizzes to make learning Mandarin enjoyable and meaningful.

By the end of the course, students will be able to understand simple spoken Mandarin, read short sentences, write basic characters and words, and communicate with growing confidence in everyday situations.
