About This Course

The Year 1 Chinese as a Second Language course introduces young learners to the basics of Mandarin through fun and interactive activities. Students begin developing their listening, speaking, reading, and early writing skills while becoming familiar with simple Chinese words and expressions used in everyday life.

Learners will explore basic topics such as greetings, numbers, family members, colours, and common classroom objects. Through songs, videos, simple dialogues, and engaging classroom activities, students gradually build confidence in understanding and using Mandarin.

The course focuses on recognising common characters, learning correct pronunciation, and forming simple sentences. Students practise speaking through short conversations and listening activities that help them understand everyday instructions and questions.

Learning is supported through colourful visuals, interactive exercises, short stories, and simple quizzes designed to make learning Chinese enjoyable and easy to follow.

By the end of the course, students will be able to recognise basic Chinese characters, understand simple spoken phrases, respond to basic questions, and use everyday vocabulary in short conversations.
